Ah, the Cincinnati Bengals.
After storming back from a 15-0 fourth-quarter deficit in Saturday’s wild-card clash against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati looked all-but-assured to win its first playoff game since January 1991.
And then the Bengals became the Bungles.
Leading 16-15 with less than 1:30 to go, Jeremy Hill fumbled the ball at the Pittsburgh nine-yard line, Vontaze Burfict was hit with a 15-yard personal foul penalty to put the Steelers in striking distance, and then Adam Jones capped it off with a personal foul of his own in the aftermath of the Burfict penalty to gift the Steelers a 35-yard field goal to seal the 18-16 victory.
Along with injuries to key players, trash being thrown on the field, and multiple skirmishes between players and coaches alike, Saturday night’s was one of the nastier playoff games football fans have seen in a while.
And of course, the Twitterverse is out in full force to voice its opinion. Here are just some of the highlights.
