A bold call by head coach Nick Saban turned the tide for Alabama in the College Football Playoff championship game.

After tying the game early in the fourth quarter, Alabama caught Clemson off guard on the ensuing kick off with a perfectly executed onside kick.

The gamble paid off for the Crimson Tide as quarterback Jake Coker and receiver O.J. Howard linked up for a 51-yard touchdown shortly after to put Alabama on top 31-24.

Alabama had all the momentum after that and on the following possession tacked on another touchdown courtesy a 95-yard kick return by Kenyan Drake.

The Crimson Tide went on to beat the Tigers 45-40 to claim their fist national title since 2012 and fourth in the last seven seasons.
