Legend critical of Tiger
February 3, 2010
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Tom Watson says Tiger Woods must "show some humility to the public" when he returns to golf.
Watson believes Woods should say "I screwed up" and "I am trying to change, I want my wife and family back" when he comes back. Woods is on an indefinite break from the game after his car crash in November and admission of marital infidelity.
Watson, who spoke Wednesday before the start of the Dubai Desert Classic, also criticized Woods for swearing and "club throwing" on the course. He said the behaviour of the 14-time major winner means he doesn't have the same "stature" as other former greats.
Watson says Woods "needs to clean up his act and show the respect for the game that other people before him have shown."
