OTTAWA – Golf star Michelle Wie thanked staff at the Ottawa Hospital on social media after undergoing surgery to remove her appendix.

The 27-year old was competing at the CP Women’s Open at Ottawa Golf and Hunt Club, but withdrew before Sunday’s final round and was admitted to hospital. She was tied for 23rd, six strokes off the lead, at the time.

“My appendix is out of my body! Been a scary 24 hrs but I just wanna thank the medical staff here in Ottawa for making me feel comfortable!” Wie posted Monday on Twitter, along with a picture of her giving a thumbs-up gesture from her hospital bed.

About an hour later she posted a short video of her first post-surgery meal — a glazed donut.

Ranked 30th in the world, Wie tied for third in the Women’s British Open and has seven top-10 finishes this season.
