CALGARY — Mark O’Meara, Ian Woosnam and Peter Jacobsen have joined the field for a Champions Tour event in Calgary this summer.

The three golfers will participate in the $2.35-million Shaw Charity Classic from Aug. 5 to 9 at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club.

O’Meara won 16 PGA tournaments during his career and will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in July.

He’ll make his third appearance in the Shaw Charity Classic, but Woosnam and Jacobsen will be first-timers.

Woosnam is a former Ryder Cup captain for Europe. The Welshman won his first Champions Tour event this month at the Insperity Invitational in Houston.

Jacobsen played on two Ryder Cup teams for the United States. He won the U.S. Senior Open in 2004 and the Senior Players Championship the following year.

The field in Calgary is projected to include 81 golfers from the Champions Tour, with the winner earning a cheque for $352,500.

Fred Couples won the tournament last year shooting 15-under-par.
