US beats Britain, Ireland in Concession Cup

BRADENTON, Fla. — Paul Simon and Nathan Smith routed their singles opponents to help the United States beat beats Britain and Ireland 21 1/2-14 1/2 on Saturday in the inaugural Concession Cup.

Simon beat Andrew Stracey 8 and 7 without losing a hole, and Smith topped James Bunch 7 and 6 at The Concession Golf Club. The start of play was delayed 5 hours, 20 minutes because of rain.

The U.S. won the Bonallack Campbell Trophy in the event for mid-amateur, senior and super-senior players.
