Sportsnet.ca - Chaos continues to surround the Maple Leafs, as it has been reported that general manager John Ferguson attempted to fire head coach Paul Maurice last week but was not allowed to do so.
As discussed in Monday's Toronto Sun, several sources confirmed with the paper that the Leafs are frantically searching for Ferguson's replacement.
It has been reported that in recent days, informal talks have been had with ex-Leaf goaltender Glenn Healy, as well as NHL vice-president Colin Campbell.
Other rumoured candidates in a revamped front office include Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman and Ron Francis.
"There's a lot going on there right now," said an NHL insider to the Sun. "You have a general manager who thinks he's provided a coach with good players. You have a coach who the players clearly aren't working for. I could see one fired, the other fired, or both of them fired.
