Sportsnet.ca -- Unable to score with the man advantage from his usual forward position, Alex Steen was moved to the point on the Toronto Maple Leafs' power-play unit during practice on Tuesday.
Steen, who has just two assists on the power-play this year, was placed in the role as coach Paul Maurice tries to shake up the team's current struggles. Steen was only being used on defence during man-advantage situations however.
The Leafs sit 26th in the league in power-play percentage, with 26 goals in 182 opportunities (14.3 per cent).
Vesa Toskala also returned to the Leafs net at practice on Tuesday, indicating that a return to action is getting closer. At the other end of the ice, Scott Clemmensen and Andrew Raycroft shared the duties.
