A job with Sportsnet means you are going to be on the move. Sooner or later you're going to go out of town to cover something and in my case it was the World Hockey Championships in Halifax.
I have been in Halifax three days and I have yet to see the sun but they tell me it's coming out this weekend. Whatever warmth that's been unavailable from the weather has been provided by the people.
They are a friendly lot but I notice the male population are big on porkchops. I don't mean the "other" white meat -- I mean sideburns. They are popular whether big or small but it seems like a lot of men have them.
Not being a drinker, and I mean that I don't know what the booze cost but I know the milk is expensive here. At 7-11 a four-litre jug of the white stuff is… well… geez I almost had a cow when I saw the price -- sorry for that.
For the first time since I was in my 20's I have a roomate that's not my wife. His name is Verne and he's my roomie/cameraman. I made him supper one night, not sure why but at least there was no candlelight or anything. It's not that long of a trip and I have a beautiful wife in Edmonton. It seemed like a good time to mention that.
I think the bathroom is the only issue – that is when I'm in it and he needs to be. The condo has two toilets and only one shower but I guess that’s better than being the other way around.
I'm used to traveling but it’s normally city to city not one city for so long. Until the middle of May Halifax will be my home away from home and that should be just enough time for me to grow some sideburns.
