Edmonton Oilers captain Ethan Moreau reportedly was a passenger in a vehicle involved in an alleged hit-and-run in Vancouver last week.
Both Sun Media and the CBC are reporting that Moreau and four others were in a Toyota 4Runner that hit a parked motorcycle and then drove away. No one was hurt in the incident.
The CBC reported that the group had been at a downtown Vancouver restaurant last Wednesday and that when they left, the vehicle in which they were riding allegedly backed into the motorcycle owned by the restaurant's bartender, Nathan Dery. Dery said his bike suffered a bent lever and scratches. Dery said the driver has contacted him and agreed to have the bike fixed.
Alan Watt, vice-president of communications for the Oilers, confirmed to Sun Media that Moreau was in the vehicle but that he was not the driver.
Vancouver police are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run because drivers must remain at the scene of an accident.
