The Vancouver Canucks have placed centre Kyle Wellwood on waivers.
Wellwood, 26, had played just one game with the Canucks so far this season - registering no points - after a training camp in which he was criticized by coach Alain Vigneault for his poor conditioning.
It's a criticism Wellwood had heard last season when he was with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs put Wellwood on waivers after the season and he was picked up by the Canucks and signed to a one-year deal.
Wellwood had battled a hernia injury his last two seasons with the Leafs and then injured a bone in his foot this summer while playing soccer.
