Brian Burke's trade self-imposed Christmas trade deadline begins today.

And it sounds like, even if he wanted to make a deal or two in his short time as the Leafs GM, he'd have trouble pulling anything off.

With the Leafs losing seven of their last 10 games, the trade offers have been grim, at best, from the other 29 general managers.

"Some real anvils," was how Burke described the players being offered. "I've been offered some world class ... salaries."

The NHL's Christmas trading freeze begins in a week and lasts until Boxing Day. Burke's whose intentions are to reinvent the Leafs lineup, will no doubt be busy between the end of the Christmas break and the March 4 trade deadline.

First up, likely a heavyweight. These Leafs can't be tough enough for Burke's liking.
