Ethan Moreau got a break but it's not the kind of break he's used to. This time it was a good one. An MRI on Tuesday showed Moreau did not, I repeat did not, I REPEAT DID NOT suffer a broken wrist after blocking a shot on Monday night against the Phoenix Coyotes.
I feel like I need to repeat it a few times because every break the Oilers captain has had in the last two seasons has led to missed action. Two seasons ago a shoulder dislocation cost him 75 games. Last season he broke a bone in his leg, the exact same one twice and only played 25 games.
After he yet again sacrificed his body to help the team, you couldn't help but think the worst.
I saw Moreau walk by me late in Monday's game as he headed for x-rays and he didn't look good. He had that look like 'here I go again and again and again'.
Instead, the cycle has been broken as he only has a bruised hand.
I'm not sure what Moreau needs or wants for the holidays but he already got the best Christmas present anyone could ever ask for - his health.
