With Roberto Luongo's return from injury imminent, the Canucks have placed goaltender Curtis Sanford on waivers.

Sanford became expendable when Vancouver traded for Jason Labarbera, who will now become Roberto Luongo's backup.

Rumour has it that the Columbus BlueJackets are interested in Sanford and may pick him up to be a backup for rookie sensation Steve Mason.

Sanford came on in relief of Jason LaBarbera in the Canucks 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils at GM place on Tuesday night. He stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced.

For the season, Sanford has appeared in 19 games while starting 15. He has a 7-8 record, posting a 2.59 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
