Can you feel it? The power of Hemsky Nation. It grows stronger in each of us each night. Four-point night for Ales Hemsky (2G, 2A, +2, 19:57 ice time, 2:48 PP, no PK, 3 SOG) to follow up his two-goal return to the line-up and he led his team back to get two critical points after trailing 3-2 late in the third. Love it. That GWG was the second of the season and 13th of his career. He has four different multi-point efforts in his past five starts overall.

Key notes: Pavel Datsyuk (2A, even, 2 PIM, 14:14 ice time, 1:14 PP, 0:39 PK, no SOG, 8-3 FO) added his 11th game with at least two points in his past 18 affairs. Nicklas Lidstrom (2G, -2, 26:33 ice time, 4:02 PP, 5:49 PK, 3 SOG) has eight points this month after this two-goal game and this was his first multi-goal effort of '08-9. CANUCKS 1 @ SHARKS 2 (OT) Coming in: Vancouver (22-19-6) had dropped five straight and seven of eight with points in four of those games, but beware the magical powers of Roberto Luongo combining with those of Mats Sundin before too long. San Jose (33-6-5) came up with an emotional win over the Wings Saturday after losing to Calgary a few nights earlier; marking the first regulation home loss at the Shark Tank.
Goaltending match-up: Roberto Luongo (27/29, .931 SV%) vs. Evgeni Nabokov (13/14, .929 SV%) Net notes: This was Luongo's third start since coming back from the groin injury. He gave up nine goals in the first two. Nabby had an 18-1-1 mark at home with 2.14/ .919 peripherals.
Vancouver line combos Daniel Sedin Henrik Sedin Taylor Pyatt Mason Raymond Mats Sundin Jannik Hansen Alex Burrows Ryan Kesler Steve Bernier
San Jose line combos Patrick Marleau Joe Thornton Devin Setoguchi Milan Michalek Joe Pavelski Ryane Clowe Jonathan Cheechoo Marcel Goc Mike Grier
Key notes: Taylor Pyatt (1G, +1, 17:24 ice time, 0:52 PP, 1:01 PK, 1 SOG) has goals back-to-back and he opened the scoring and had what looked like was going to stand up as the only goal of the game until that last-minute tally by the Sharks. Pyatt had 12 games without a point before these last two.
Henrik Sedin (1A, +1, 17:52 ice time, 1:08 PP, 0:01 PK, no SOG, 9-3 FO) had a couple of points the last time these teams met and he was four points shy of the point-per-game mark when this one began. Daniel Sedin (1A, +1, 4 PIM, 18:41 ice time, 1:08 PP, no PK, 4 SOG) has collected a point in seven of 10 games this month and he maintained his point-per-game pace on the season here.
Claude Lemieux (even, 7:08 ice time, no PP, no PK, 3 SOG) played his first game in more than five years tonight and started in the fourth line RW slot. For a guy who hadn't been in the NHL for so long he really didn't look bad at all. No point in adding him to your fantasy team, but a good story nonetheless.
Joe Thornton (2A, +1, 23:04 ice time, 4:55 PP, no PK, no SOG, 6-8 FO) has been ripping it up for a month now and he set up Devin Setoguchi (1G, +1, 19:00 ice time, 3:31 PP, no PK, 6 SOG, 0-1 FO) for the GTG late in the third. Thornton had 18 points in 14 GP before this one, while Setoguchi got his 21st marker of the season with his 44th point on that play. He was also in on the winner to add point #45.
Patrick Marleau (1G, 1A, +1, 24:59 ice time, 4:55 PP, 1:14 PK, 3 SOG, 1-3 FO) had several quality chances to win it and he finally delivered on what would be the last shot of the game. This was his eighth winner of the season and 50th of his career. With one more GWG he'll tie his career best in that stat. He got his 49th and 50th points of the season here and that beats last year's total by two.
Joe Pavelski (1A, +1, 22:18 ice time, 4:42 PP, 0:23 PK, 5 SOG, 4-8 FO) has points in four straight and five of six.
