Sam Gagner's all-star break was extended at least a day. Gagner did not practice on Monday with the rest of the Oilers. He is out with an ankle injury, a problem that he has been playing with but has caused him to come to the bench early a couple of times in recent games. He has undergone an MRI and is questionable for Tuesday's game in Buffalo.

Sheldon Souray was not back at practice today for Edmonton as they resumed practice after the all-star break. Souray was given a travel day after Sunday's all-star game where he collected two goals and an assist for the West in the 12-11 shootout loss.

Edmonton's other all-star, Andrew Cogliano, was back at practice. Cogliano was a part of the YoungStars game on Saturday and the skills competition. The best was saved for last as the final skater Cogliano was also the fastest. He recorded a 14.31-second lap to be crowned the NHL's fastest skater.

Liam Reddox did return to Edmonton in time for practice today. Reddox was called up after spending the all-star break with Springfield of the AHL. He played in two games and had no points with the Falcons. Reddox was sent down after Edmonton's final game before the break on Jan. 20 against Columbus.

Fernando Pisani skated Monday morning on his own prior to the rest of his team. He is still weeks away from returning but the signs from his return to the ice were positive. It will be a case of managing the pain for Pisani, who has been out since he broke his right ankle on Nov. 18 against Detroit.
