Leafs defenceman Tomas Kaberle, out since March 3 after re-injuring his right hand, said Thursday he will accompany the team on the road trip to Florida and Montreal next week, but will not go Saturday at home against Calgary.

A day earlier head coach Ron Wilson had hoped the all-star would be back for the Flames contest, but Kaberle hasn't been able to shoot yet and ruled himself out.

"I hope to practice three or four times and get some (favourable X-rays) and hopefully be back soon," Kaberle said Thursday morning following the team's optional skate. "I'm going to take my time with this and want to make sure we don't have to have surgery again."

Wilson added he hopes to have both Kaberle and Niklas Hagman, who is out after suffering a concussion, back before the end of the road trip.
