TW LW Team Our Take
1 The Red Wings become the first NHL team to record nine consecutive 100-point seasons the same week that goalie Chris Osgood picks up his 300th career victory.
2 Take that! Newly acquired Travis Moen scores the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over the team that traded him, Anaheim.
4 Brian Rolston scores his 300th career goal. Oh yeah, Martin Brodeur also ties the NHL all-time record with his 551st win.
3 Phil Kessel becomes the third youngest Bruin ever to hit the 30-goal plateau.
6 Alexander Semin scores a goal and three assists in a win over Carolina and now has goals in eight straight games against the Hurricanes.
5 Olli Jokinen has eight goals and 10 points in six games with the Flames.
8 Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows continue to provide the rising Canucks with excellent secondary scoring.
7 The Flyers spent so much time chasing Sean Avery all over the ice Sunday they forgot they were supposed to be trying to score.
9 Winger Patrick Sharp has resumed skating after missing 13 games with a knee injury.
11 Chris Kunitz has five goals in nine games for the Penguins since being acquired from the Ducks.
10 Wonder if coach Bob Gainey thinks GM Bob Gainey hung him out to dry at the trade deadline?
15 Sean Avery drew two penalties and scored two power play goals to lead the Rangers past the Flyers.
14 The Canes rally from deficits of 3-1 and 4-2, but ultimately lose in a shootout to the Capitals – their third straight loss.
16 Antoine Vermette has three goals and six points in five games since joining the Blue Jackets from Ottawa at the trade deadline.
12 David Booth scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-3 loss to neighboring Tampa Bay.
13 The Sabres have lost three of their last four games and have slipped out of the playoffs.
17 Rookie goalie Pekka Rinne has seven shutouts, so why is everybody conceding the rookie of the year award to Steve Mason?
19 Agitator Steve Ott recorded his first career two-goal game in a 3-2 win over Minnesota.
18 Three straight losses has the Oilers clinging to eighth in the Western Conference.
21 The never-say-die Blues have seven wins in their last 10 games and are still very much alive in the West thanks in a large part to David Backes who has five goals and nine points in his last seven games.
20 Four straight losses has the Wild spinning out of control.
22 Goalie Jonas Hiller made 29 saves in his third straight start, but it wasn’t enough as the Ducks were skunked by the Sharks 1-0.
24 Mikhail Grabovski has moved into sixth in rookie scoring with 16 goals and 35 points in 66 games
23 The Kings have dropped six straight on the road. The good news, though, is veteran defenceman Sean O’Donnell played his 1,000th NHL game.
25 Rookie stopper Brian Elliott has reeled off five straight victories.
28 Todd White forced overtime scoring with four seconds left in a 4-3 win over Buffalo. It is the second time this season White has forced OT with a last-minute goal.
27 The Avs Cody McCormick was slapped with a two-game suspension for high-sticking Cal Clutterbuck of the Wild.
26 Five straight losses pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin of the Coyotes.
29 Defenceman Cody Murphy has four goals and seven points in his last nine games.
30 Peter Mannino made 40 saves to beat the Blackhawks 4-2 in his NHL debut with the Islanders.
