Calgary Flames forward Mike Cammalleri will not be fined or suspended by the NHL despite elbowing Chicago Blackhawks forward Martin Havlat in the head, Sportsnet has learned.

The NHL says it was a first time incident and that he was not a repeat offender.

The incident occured 52 seconds into the third period, and Havlat would go on to score the game-winning goal 12 seconds into overtime.

It was rumoured that Cammalleri would receive a suspension since Philadelphia FLyers forward Daniel Carcillo was suspended one game for delivered a blow to the head of Pittsburgh Penguin Maxime Talbot directly off a face-off on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has asked the NHL to look into what says claims was Mike Komisarek's "eye gouge" of Bruin Matt Hunwick. Chiarelli claims Komisarek gouged Hunwick's right eye with his bare hand during a scuffle at the end of the game. Hunwick needed stitches to close the wound.

"It looked like he eye-gouged him," Chiarelli told the Boston Globe. "That's all I'll say about that. I'll let the league decide if there should be punishment."
