The Pittsburgh Penguins might try to get slumping forward Evgeni Malkin back on track by putting him on a line with Sidney Crosby for Wednesday's Game 3 against the Washington Capitals.

"It makes us realize that we've got to make things happen out there," said Crosby, when asked about potentially playing with Malkin. "Hopefully it's a boost. That's why we're put together usually - to create things and get momentum."

Crosby has been electrifying in this series, scoring four of the Penguins five goals. Malkin, who led the league in scoring during the regular season and is a Hart Trophy candidate, has been nearly invisible in two games against the Capitals. The Russian forward has now gone five consecutive playoff games without scoring a goal.

The Capitals are aware of the potential that Malkin and Crosby could be reunited tonight.

"Both players play well. It's going to be a big challenge for us when they play together," said Alexander Ovechkin on Wednesday afternoon.
