There will be many questions that need answers over the next few months as far as the Canucks are concerned; however, let me put one to bed right now: Alain Vigneault is not going anywhere.

Vigneault has one year remaining on his contract, and you can expect a multi-year (2-3) extension sometime soon. And that is the right call.

After last season many people were hot and bothered to run Vigneualt out of town because they felt he was too defensive minded as a coach. Well, the Canucks finished in the top 10 in goal scoring this season so clearly he knows how to generate some offence as well take care of his own end. You can argue he sat back too much in Game 4 of the Blackhawks series -- and the way things turned out in that game, maybe he did. That said, Vigneault wasn't wrong when he said that his club couldn't afford to trade chances with Chicago. Game 6 proved that.

I know it was a very dissapointing end to the season for Canuck fans, but don't forget that this team wasn't expected to do much before it all started. And Vigneault led them to a division title despite the fact Roberto Luongo was gone for 24 games. He can coach. Period.

Over the past year Vigneault has gone from the guy in place, to the guy on the hot seat, to Mike Gillis' guy and that is why he will be given more security sometime in the near future.
