Newly hired Phoenix Coyotes assistant coach Dave King spent Tuesday night in a Seattle hospital. He was released Wednesday morning after undergoing some tests and was scheduled to return to Phoenix.

Original reports suggested he might have suffered a heart attack, but a Coyotes spokesperson said that was not the cause.

King, 61, reportedly felt unwell in the team's dressing room prior to a pre-season game in Seattle against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was attended by paramedics and taken to hospital.

King was hired by the Coyotes on Monday as the team continues to deal with the uncertainty of its future brought on by the franchise's bankruptcy proceedings. Head coach Wayne Gretzky has chosen not to attend Coyotes' camp as he tries to work out his contractual status.
