Ottawa Senators winger Alexei Kovalev was en route to Russian Thursday afternoon and would miss at least Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to a report.

TSN said on its Web site Thursday that Kovalev was headed overseas after his mother-in-law died.
