The Vancouver Canucks have placed disgruntled defenceman Mathieu Schneider on waivers.
Canucks GM Mike Gills had tried to trade the 40-year-old defenceman but it appears as though he found no takers.
Citing personal reasons, a frustrated Schneider left the team prior to the Christmas break. A lack of ice time and a reduced role on the club were the main issues for the veteran.
In 17 games this season, Schneider had two goals and three assists and averaged 15:14 of ice time.
Schneider joined the Canucks last summer as a free agent after spending parts of the previous season in Montreal and Atlanta.
