NASHVILLE -- Right wing Jordin Tootoo has signed a two-year, US$2.5 million extension with the Nashville Predators.
Tootoo will earn $1.15 million next season and $1.35 million in 2011-12.
General manager David Poile said in a statement Friday that Tootoo has developed on the ice and in the community since the Predators drafted him in 2001.
The 27-year-old has played in 330 NHL games with 71 points and a franchise-record 550 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-9 wing was the 98th pick overall in the 2001 draft and became the first player of Inuit descent to play in the NHL when he debuted Oct. 9, 2003, against Anaheim.
