Pascal Leclaire will get his first start in goal in nearly two months tonight, when the Ottawa Senators visit the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center.
"I'm excited about it. It's been a while since I've started," Leclaire said on Thursday afternoon. "I feel good in practices, so I don't see any reason why I shouldn't feel good in games."
Leclaire has not started a game since he was pulled after the first period of a 6-1 loss in Atlanta on January 12th. The netminder has not won a game in this calendar year, last posting a win on December 31, 2009 against the New York Islanders.
The 27-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season. He was sidelined for nine games with a concussion he suffered on January 14th in New York. He also missed 16 games after he sustained a fractured cheekbone when a puck him in the face while he was sitting on the bench during a November 23rd game against Washington.
In 28 games this season, Leclaire has posted a 11-10-1 record with a 3.02 GAA and a .891 save percentage.
