TW LW Team Our Take
1 The Capitals just keep on rolling, even though Alex Ovechkin hasn’t scored in six games.
2 The Blackhawks have the best goals-against in the NHL, yet all we hear about is how shaky their goaltending is.
3 A couple of one-goal wins over Columbus and Montreal have the Sharks swimming in the right direction again.
7 Sidney Crosby takes over the NHL’s goal lead as the Penguins win four straight.
5 Wojtek Wolski scores in each of his first two games with the Coyotes, including one game-winner.
4 Anze Kopitar has three goals in his past four games, but was minus-2 in each of his team’s back-to-back losses.
9 Peter Mueller has four points in three games since joining the Avs.
8 The Canucks were blown out by Chicago 6-3 in their last meeting of the regular season, but bounced back with a win over Nashville.
6 Alex Kovalev was one of the NHL’s hottest players leading up to the break, but has no points and is minus-6 in three games since resuming play.
11 Patrick Kaleta scores a beauty in overtime to give the Sabres a 2-1 win over the Rangers Sunday.
10 If the Devils aren’t concerned about goalie Martin Brodeur’s play, they should be.
15 Pavel Datsyk is finding his game for the suddenly healthy and streaking red Wings.
13 Jarome Iginla registers his 10th career hat trick in a big road win over the Wild.
16 Michael Leighton, the goaltender of choice in Philadelphia, is 14-3-1.
14 The Preds have dropped two straight and are now without stud defenceman Shae Weber.
18 Paul Kariya had six points in three games before being skunked by Colorado.
17 The big question now is, can Lubomir Visnovsky and Aaron Ward make up for the loss of Chris Pronger and Francois Beahuchemin?
12 Kari Lehtonen lays an egg in his first start for the slumping Stars.
20 The Habs show great comeback power beating the Ducks 4-3 after falling behind 3-0 in the first period.
22 Just when it looked like the Bruins had turned a corner, Marc Savard gets KO’ed by a Matt Cooke shot to the head.
25 The Canes are in real danger of taking themselves out of a lottery pick position for the draft.
19 The Lightning can score with the best of teams, but have allowed 24 more goals than they have scored.
24 The Thrashers have actually been pretty good without Ilya Kovalchuk.
23 A third straight loss has the Rangers’ playoff hopes fading quickly.
21 The Wild appeared to have turned their season around, but with back-to-back losses the playoffs appear to be out of the question.
27 The Panthers failed to do anything of significance at the trade deadline.
26 In what has become a wasted season, Rick Nash has no points in two games since the break and the Blue Jackets have dropped four in a row.
28 John Tavares hasn’t scored in 17 games and has just one goal in his past 27.
29 Dion Phaneuf has two assists in nine games with the Leafs, hardly earth-shattering numbers.
30 Gilbert Brule is making his statement for next season with five points in five games.
