The NHL decided to not punish Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke for his hit on Boston's Marc Savard.

Savard suffered a concussion and had to be removed on a stretcher after a check from Cooke on Sunday night. Savard briefly lost consciousness and there has been no official word on when he will return to action.

League disciplinarian Colin Campbell said the decision was based on consistency.
