The Senators aren't sure where Brian Lee fits. They'd just like him to fit in somewhere, especially with next season's blue-line picture very unclear.

With the future of looming unrestricted free-agent defencemen Anton Volchenkov and Andy Sutton uncertain, the Senators locked up Lee -- who could have been a RFA -- to a two-year, $1.75-million (all terms US) deal that will keep the ninth overall pick from the 2005 draft in the mix.

"All along we wanted to get him signed, whether it was going to be a qualifying offer or a two-year deal," said assistant GM Tim Murray.
