Bruins lock up Ference

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins signed defenceman Andrew Ference to a US$6.75-million, three-year contract extension Wednesday that runs through the 2013-14 NHL season.
Ference, 31, has collected eight assists in 50 games for the Bruins this season.
In three-plus years with Boston, Ference has played in 182 games with three goals, 29 assists and 137 penalty minutes.
The Bruins acquired him from Calgary in February 2007 along with Chuck Kobasew for Brad Stuart, Wayne Primeau, and a fourth-round pick.
Ference has played 569 NHL games with Boston, Calgary and Pittsburgh, amassing 24 goals, 117 assists and 141 points over 10 NHL seasons.
