Burns released from hospital
April 8, 2010
THE CANADIAN PRESS
MONTREAL -- A Montreal radio station says it has been told by Pat Burns' wife that the former NHL coach has left a Florida hospital.
CKAC says Burns has returned home after being in hospital since last Sunday because of complications from his terminal lung and colon cancer.
Burns lives in Florida and is a regular contributor to a morning sports show on CKAC.
Burns, who has lost a considerable amount of weight, said in an interview last week he feels a sense of calm at the thought of dying.
Physically, he looked a shadow of his former burly self when he travelled to Quebec two weeks ago to take part in a ceremony where it was announced an arena would be named after him in the border community of Stanstead.
The three-time coach of the year in the NHL turned 58 last Sunday.
