  • "You have to believe and we do in this locker room," Wings netminder Jimmy Howard said.

One win for San Jose and the dream of the Stanley Cup lives, and conversely, Detroit's season dies. It's a daunting task for the 2008 Cup winners and 2009 finalists to stay alive.

"We believe that we're going to win," Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "We've done a lot of winning and it's what we have to do tonight. It's that simple."

It really is as simple as that for Detroit. They can't worry about winning the series until they win a game which guarantees that there summer doesn't start on May 6.

"That's definitely is a motivation," Wings defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom explained. "We don't want it to end and that's why we really have to have that feeling of desperation."

This is the 10th time in Wings history that they have been down 3-0 in a series and only once have they won Game 4. The most recent occurrence was in 2003 and the Wings were swept by Anaheim.

"You have to believe and we do in this locker room," Wings netminder Jimmy Howard said. "We know that it won't be easy but we really do have to take it one game at a time."

That is the same way San Jose will take it but with a win they would record the first sweep in Sharks history.

"It something that we've been able to win three games," Sharks forward Devin Setoguchi stated. "Especially against a team like Detroit but we need one more victory to make it really mean something."

San Jose's history of choking in the playoffs could certainly take a hit for the good if they can close out Detroit.

"I think we have the right guys to do it," Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle said. "We know what it takes to close it out and we'll do our best to make sure it happens tonight."

If it doesn't then the two teams will meet in San Jose for game 5 on Saturday.
