In a week's time, if Leafs GM Brian Burke starts talking about the big one that got away, it will have more to do with fishing than Ilya Kovalchuk or Simon Gagne.

While two big names made big news on Monday, the Maple Leafs put a Gone Fishin' sign on Burke's office door while the GM takes his annual summer fishing trip. He was in Vancouver, heading off for his week with friends, including top assistant Dave Nonis, on Tuesday morning. Assistant GM Dave Poulin is in charge of the club.

But before casting a rod, Burke addressed the major issue facing the team — the future of defenceman Tomas Kaberle, and it's officially status quo while he trolls for a better offer.
