Clarke MacArthur has his silver lining and the Maple Leafs have themselves a bargain forward who, as general manager Brian Burke noted, will likely receive "significant time" on the top two lines.

The one-year, $1.1 million (all figures U.S.) deal MacArthur signed with Toronto Saturday is a case of two sides making the best of what has been perhaps the weirdest of summers under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

"It's been an odd summer for a lot of players I think," said the newest Leaf, speaking from his summer home in the Thousand Islands.
