The Phoenix Coyotes were one of last year's surprise teams, but didn't get off to an especially great start this season. However, a six-game winning streak has Phoenix rising in the West. They don't score a whole lot - newcomer Ray Whitney leads the Coyotes with 14 points in 18 games - but, like last season, they scratch and claw and somehow find a way to win.

TW LW Team Our Take
1 1
(14-5-2)
This team is not hitting on all cylinders yet and goaltending remains an issue, but it sure can score goals.
2 4
(13-3-2)
The soaring Red Wings are plus-18 in goal ratio which helps explain the fact they have jus one regulation loss in their last 10 games.
3 3
(13-6-2)
Captain Mike Richards has taken over the team lead in scoring with 10 points in his last six games.
4 6
(13-6-1)
With Carey Price rocking the joint, we don't hear much about the loss of Jaroslav Halak these days. Price has four shutouts thus far.
5 1
(13-6-0)
Injuries have limited Justin Williams to just 130 games in the past three years, but he's been on fire this season leading the Kings with 20 points in 19 games.
6 7
(11-5-3)
A rare goal by Brad Winchester gives the Blues a hard-fought 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils for their second victory in a row.
7 20
(12-7-1)
After building a 3-0 lead, the Avs needed a shootout goal by Kevin Porter to defeat the Dallas Stars 4-3.
8 12
(10-5-5)
Taylor Pyatt scored two goals in a 3-2 win over his former team, the Vancouver Canucks, as Phoenix pushes its winning streak to six games.
9 13
(12-6-0)
Rick Nash scores all three goals and Mathieu Garon records the shutout as the Blue Jackets skunk the Sharks 3-0.
10 17
(11-5-2)
Goalie Tim Thomas continues to make a case for being the NHL's comeback player of the year despite losing 3-2 to the Kings in a shootout.
11 14
(11-8-2)
Scrappy Chris Kunitz fires three goals in three games including a pair against Carolina in a 5-4 win Friday.
12 12
(11-7-2)
A four-point performance by Steven Stamkos against Buffalo has him on pace for 78 goals and 134 points this season - amazing!
13 11
(11-10-2)
The Blackhawks continue their mastery over the Vancouver Canucks, clobbering them 7-1 one night after they were bashed 7-2 in Calgary.
14 10
(11-9-1)
After scoring 10 goals in his first 13 games, Brandon Dubinsky has slipped to just two in his last eight.
15 5
(10-7-3)
The Sedins accumulated 16 points over a four-game stretch prior to Vancouver's humiliating 7-1 home loss to Chicago.
16 16
(10-7-2)
Martin Havlat has picked up his scoring pace and is riding a five-game point streak with two goals and eight points.
17 8
(10-10-3)
Back-to-back losses has the Ducks out of the top eight in the tough Western Conference.
18 22
(9-9-3)
After a dreadful start, during which he was made a healthy scratch, veteran Nik Antropov has goals in his last two outings.
19 24
(10-7-1)
After winning in their first two shootouts of the year, the Stars are beaten 5-4 by Colorado in a shootout Saturday.
20 15
(9-6-4)
The Sharks continue to have trouble scoring goals and are without a goal-scorer in double digits thus far.
21 18
(9-6-3)
Talk about a team desperate for goals. Steve Sullivan, Patric Hornqvist and Marcel Goc lead the Preds with five goals apiece.
22 23
(9-9-2)
The Canes bolster their scoring attack from the blueline with the addition of Ian White in a trade with Calgary.
23 25
(9-9-0)
Mike Santorelli pops a pair in a rather easy 4-1 win over the slumping Islanders.
24 9
(9-10-1)
The inconsistent Senators are 5-5 in their past 10 and are third worst in goal-differential in the Eastern Conference at minus-16.
25 21
(8-11-3)
After scoring a huge win over the Los Angeles Kings, the Sabres blow an early 1-0 lead in a 2-1 loss to the Lightning.
26 28
(7-9-3)
After recording back-to-back wins against Nashville and New Jersey, and looking quite good in those games, the Leafs suffer a setback in Montreal.
27 26
(8-10-1)
Captain Jarome Iginla scores a hat trick in a 7-2 win over Chicago and is promptly told by management he will not be traded this season.
28 29
(5-10-4)
Ales Hemskey's sixth goal of the season lifts the erratic Oilers to a 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
29 27
(5-13-2)
Goalie Martin Brodeur continues to miss games with a bum elbow and the losses continue to mount at three in a row.
30 30
(4-12-4)
A change of coaches, from Scott Gordon to Jack Capuano, doesn't help as the Islanders are now winless in 12 games.
