It's time to see what the Oilers cheerleaders will bring to the table.

On Tuesday night, the Edmonton Oilers will do something no other Canadian NHL team has ever done. Their new cheerleading squad will make its debut.

I've seen them for teams in the U.S. but never in Canada. We're uptight when it comes to hockey in this country and doing anything different -- which is hoe I would classify having a cheer squad in a rink.

They've yet to be named but I think I'm looking forward more to what they'll be wearing than to what they will be called.

I don't know if the Oilers need cheerleaders but why not try something like this? Football has had them forever and it seems to work in stadiums so why not try hockey arenas?

What a perfect team to try this with in Edmonton. They have so many players who would be right in the same age category as the 19 ladies that were chosen who fall between the ages of 18-29. Imagine Taylor Hall on a breakway and he misses because he suddenly looked in the stands and saw some 10 out of 10 girl cheering him on. I'm just joking of course which is what I hope Oiler fans and the rest of the public will do as well.

Whenever there is change some people won't like it and this concept was no different when the Oilers went public with the idea. Like the kids would say, "chillax and let's see how it goes."

There's no doubt they will be beautiful and athletic so let's treat them with some respect. Remember they are someone's daughter and let's see if they make the game at Rexall anymore enjoyable to watch.

Give me a 'G' give me an 'O'… give me another 'O'… a 'D'… an 'L'… a 'U'… a 'C'… and a 'K'… Now, what does it spell ladies? 'Good luck'.
