Thinking about ways the hockey world could improve themselves in the New Year.
It's the first day of 2011, so my New Year's resolution is to be more physically fit. Ha! Bet I'm not alone on that one.
Here are some New Year's resolutions for people from the hockey world:
Ron Wilson: Give my players credit after a win and I'll take the blame following a
loss…for once.
Jody Shelley: I promise to wait until my opponent is looking before I throw the first punch.
Lou Lamoriello: Not get into bidding wars for overrated Russians.
David Branch: Continue my fight to make hockey a safer game to play.
Martin St-Louis: Continue to be the NHL's most underrated superstar.
Steven Stamkos: Thank the Lord every day that Martin St-Louis is on my line.
Brian Burke: I will tear it down and try to acquire draft picks and do the rebuild the proper way.
Ales Hemsky: Try to shoot the puck more often.
Andrew Ladd: Continue to be the NHL's most improved player.
Toronto Maple Leafs defencemen: We will endeavor to stop giving the puck away like we did in an embarrassing loss to Columbus Thursday night.
David Jones: Keep playing great hockey for the Avalanche even if I don't get the credit I deserve.
Jay Feaster: Move some of my veterans for young players or draft picks in an attempt to keep up with Edmonton's rebuilding program.
Brent Sutter: Smile…once…maybe…forget it.
Brandon Sutter: Take my place among the best up-and-coming young forwards in the game.
Tomas Kaberle: Accept a trade out of Toronto to a Stanley Cup contender.
Tyler Myers: Get back to my rookie form.
Drew Doughty: See Tyler Myers.
The Hockey News: Continue to be the most relevant hockey publication on the planet.
Donald Fehr: Lay the groundwork for a peaceful, yet fruitful, CBA negotiation for my players without a work stoppage.
Chris Pronger: No more surgery.
Ray Emery: Make a successful comeback and establish myself as a reliable stopper.
Derek Boogaard: Do something other than bully and fight.
Chris Stewart: Fight less; score more.
Sean Avery: Return to being a productive agitator with skill…not just an agitator.
Jacques Martin: Give the media a juicy quote.
Shawn Thornton: Continue to score goals at a career-high pace.
The Sedin twins: One of us will shave our beard so you can tell us apart. We won't tell you which one.
Alexander Ovechkin: A breakout game at the Winter Classic - what a great way to start a new year and forget about 2010.
Jonas Gustavsson: Stop breaking sticks over the crossbar when I let in a goal…even if it's not my fault and my defence sucks! Wait a minute, did I say that, or did I just think it?
Doug Wilson: Acquire some leadership for my otherwise Stanley Cup-contending team.
Jaroslav Halak: Another great playoff run…assuming we make it.
Ilya Kovalchuk: Start earning the big, big, big money the Devils paid me when I signed on for 15 years last summer.
Charles Wang: Start treating my New York Islanders franchise (and its fans!!!!) with the respect it (and they) deserve(s).
Anze Kopitar: Show a little more grit as the hope and the face of the Kings franchise.
Steve Tambellini: Make a transaction that lands my Oilers a stud on the blueline, even if it means swapping some of my depth up front.
Dany Heatley: Start scoring goals like the Rocket Richard winner I should be.
Nicklas Lidstrom: Keep on playing like a Norris Trophy candidate until the day I finally hang 'em up.
Dustin Byfuglien: Keep piling up the points so I get a Norris Trophy, too.
Paul Bissonnette: Keep on being the King of Twitter in the hockey world.
Emerson Etem: To think before I tweet.
Alexei Kovalev: Give hockey fans one lasting impression of the skillful player I can be when I put my mind to it.
