There really are no more surprises where the Phoenix Coyotes are concerned.

Their shocking season from a year ago, when they were expected to challenge for the first-overall draft pick, but instead placed fourth overall. This season, however, the expectations were high and with four straight wins, the Coyotes are again looking like a team to be reckoned with.

Even after trading Wojtek Wolski, whom they thought would be a big part of their offence this season, to the New York Rangers, the Coyotes have been hot on offence of late with 19 goals in their last four games. A good thing, too, since injuries have taken a toll on the team's defence.

Here are this week's Sportsnet.ca Power Rankings:

TW LW Team Our Take
1 Daniel Sedin ties Markus Naslund's franchise record for most game-winning goals with his 49th and does it in 368 fewer games.
2 Danny Briere scores goals in five straight games before being blanked by the Rangers.
3 Goalies Chris Osgood and Jimmy Howard as well as winger Tomas Holmstrom join the Wings long list of injuries.
4 Jordan Staal helps make up for the absence of Sidney Crosby scoring two goals (both game-winners) and five points in two games.
6 The Caps score three third-period goals to beat the Ottawa Senators 3-1 and snap a three-game losing streak.
5 Inconsistency, particularly on defence, continues to plague the Lightning which now has been joined by Washington atop the Southeast Division standings.
8 Goaltender Kari Lehtonen continues his fabulous season with a 6-1 victory over his former team, the Atlanta Thrashers.
11 Centre Marc Savard, who suffered a horrible concussion last season, is drilled into the boards by Pittsburgh's Daryk Engelland and admits to being woozy after the hit but continues playing.
7 The Rangers hope Wojtek Wolski can find his lost scoring touch and he gives them a hint he will with two goals in three games.
10 The Predators blow three one-goal leads in losing 6-3 to the Blackhawks.
17 Ray Whitney's ninth goal of the year against Anaheim is his 900th career point. At the same time Radem Vrbata manages his 300th point with two assists in the game.
12 Ageless star Teemu Selanne's 13th goal of the season in a 3-2 win over Edmonton is the 1,300th point of his illustrious career.
9 Atlanta is thrashed 6-1 by the Dallas Stars and is now winless in its last four games.
13 Goaltender Carey Price makes 20 third-period saves to help the Canadiens hold on for a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers.
18 Captain Jonathan Toews scores the hundredth goal of his career making him the third-youngest player to do it for Chicago behind Jeremy Roenick and Bobby Hull.
14 The Avalanche handle the Minnesota Wild easily, but lose second-year centre Ryan O'Reilly with a shoulder injury in the process after he crashes into the boards.
21 The Hurricanes, who seem to have solid second halves of their season yearly, are at it again with seven wins and just one regulation loss in their past 10 games.
15 Goaltender Anton Khudobin records his first NHL shutout in a stunning 4-0 win over the NHL's best team, the Vancouver Canucks.
16 The Kings lose six of their first seven games in an eight-game home stand before clobbering the Edmonton Oilers 5-2.
19 Alex Steen finds his consistency with 12 points in a 13-game span.
20 Just when it looked like the Sharks were about to implode, losing six in a row, they spring to life with a 4-2 victory over St. Louis on the strength of two Dany Heatley goals.
23 Matt Stajan calls his goal against his former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the best feelings he has ever experienced.
22 The Sabres are beaten by the Islanders in the first of three meetings between the two teams this month.
24 Rick Nash has three goals and seven points in four games, but the Blue Jackets remain a long way out of the Western Conference playoff scene.
27 The Panthers roll off three straight victories, but lose veteran defenceman Bryan McCabe with a broken jaw.
25 Changes are coming in Toronto. It's just a matter of time as GM Brian Burke promises to make over his club which is 5-4-1 in its last 10.
26 Injured centre Jason Spezza says he is still a few weeks away from being able to skate. The Sens desperately miss his offence.
28 John Tavares's second-career hat trick sparks the Islanders to a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
29 Ales Hemsky had five assists in two games before being held off the score sheet against Anaheim Sunday.
30 The Devils secure three of a possible four points in a trip to the state of Florida.
