Steven Stamkos is serious about this scoring-race thing.

The third-year centre edged past idle Sidney Crosby in the race for the Art Ross Trophy with his 38th goal of the year as Tampa Bay has won four straight. Crosby, of course, has been out with a concussion. Stamkos, just 20-years old, has points in six straight games.

Here are this week's sportsnet.ca Power Rankings:

TW LW Team Our Take
2 After learning the New Jersey Devils are really indeed the new New Jersey Devils in a 3-1 loss Saturday, the Flyers rebound with 4-1 win over the defending champion Blackhawks.
1 The Canucks are struggling on offence of late, but have picked up points in eight of their last 10 games.
6 Steven Stamkos pots his league-leading 38th goal of the year as the Lightning defeats the Atlanta Thrashers for the 11th straight time.
7 After an impressive franchise record of eight straight road victories, the Stars finally succumb to the Flames 7-4 in Calgary. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
4 Pascal Dupuis's shorthanded goal early in the third period proves to be the winner as the Penguins, minus Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, surprise the Hurricanes 3-2.
3 Cory Emmerton scores in his first NHL game, but the injury-riddled Red Wings are no match for the Blackhawks losing 4-1.
8 Milan Lucic scores twice to raise his goal total to 19 on the year, but the Bruins lose fragile centre Marc Savard with yet another head injury in the second period of a win over Colorado.
5 Don't look now, but Alexander Ovechkin comes to life with three, count 'em, three goals in a 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Toronto.
10 With three straight wins and eight in their last 10 games it is time to start taking these starless Predators seriously…I think.
14 The Habs have lost just once in regulation in their last 10, thanks in part to goal-scoring contributions of suddenly-hot Max Pacioretty.
9 Mats Zuccarello scores on his third-straight shootout attempt this season as the Rangers beat the Thrashers.
12 Bobby Ryan scores in regulation time and then secures the win for his Ducks with a shootout tally in a 4-3 victory in Montreal.
11 The Coyotes seemed to be well on their way to a sixth straight win over Los Angeles after coming back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, but lost 4-3 on a third period goal by Jarret Stoll.
21 Not sure how the additions of Ben Eager and Kyle Wellwood play into it, but the aimless Sharks have suddenly gone on a four-game winning streak.
15 The Flyers beat the revamped Blackhawks 4-1 in a rematch of last season's Stanley Cup final.
16 Could he? Would he? Yes indeed, Peter Forsberg is seriously thinking about making a comeback with the Avalanche and the NHL will be a better place if he is successful.
18 With 14 goals in 46 games, defenceman Brent Burns is one off his single-season high of 15 scored in 82 games in 2007-08.
13 The Thrashers have points in six of their last 10 games, but only three victories in that span.
17 Eric Staal's 23rd of the season makes it close, but his brother Jordan's Penguins still beat the Hurricanes 3-2.
23 After spotting the Blues a 2-0 lead, the Blue Jackets storm back with five straight to win their third in a row.
19 Things continue to go from bad to worse for the slumping Kings as GM Dean Lombardi is slapped with a $50,000 fine for questioning NHL executive Mike Murphy's integrity after what was clearly a bad call against Los Angeles.
20 Three losses in four games, including two in a row, has the Blues on the outside looking in where the playoffs are concerned.
22 With changes to the roster pending, the Flames have won two straight including an impressive 4-3 shootout victory over the Canucks.
23 Nathan Gerbe's scores his third goal in two games against the Islanders and then sets up the winner as Buffalo wins 5-3 on Long Island.
26 Rumours of big changes on the horizon continue as the Leafs win five of their past 10.
25 The Panthers hoped former Devils Scott Clemmensen could work some magic against his former team, but it wasn't to be as the Devils crushed Florida 5-2.
27 Owner Eugene Melnyk insists there won't be a change of coach or manager so all that is left of this season is to see how far the Senators will sink in the standings.
28 Thanks, but no thanks. That was the message from goalie Evgeni Nabokov who was claimed off waivers by the Islanders.
30 Not sure why exactly, but the Devils seemed determined to keep winning and lessen their chances of getting the No. 1 overall draft pick. What a year!
29 Taylor Hall forces overtime with his 15th of the year, but fails to score in the shootout as Edmonton is edged 3-2 by Nashville.
