Just when you thought it was safe to call the Devils season an absolute write-off, Jacques Lemaire's great coaching has them climbing the standings. A little too late where the playoffs are concerned, but at least there's hope for the future. Lemaire said he wouldn't return next season to coach the Devils, but, perhaps a great finish will convince him that his work is not done.

TW LW Team Our Take
2 Injuries to their defence don’t seem to be affecting the Canucks, thanks in a large part to the Sedins who just keep lighting it up.
1 The Flyers remain one of the NHL’s hottest teams in 2011, despite being the only club without a shutout this season.
3 Vinny Lecavalier (remember him?) scores the OT winner and Steven Stamkos checks in with four points as Tampa Bay survives a scare from the Blues.
5 It’s going to be interesting to see what GM Ray Shero does now that Evgeni Malkin has been lost for the rest of the season.
4 The Stars have dropped three straight and are having trouble finding the consistency that they’ve displayed for most of the season.
9 Back-to-back wins over the Lightning and Penguins are an indication that things just might be finally coming together for the Capitals.
6 What the heck is going on? The Red Wings are shut out in back-to-back games by Columbus and Nashville. Pavel Datsyuk can’t get back quick enough!
7 It’s official. Marc Savard is done of the year. The big question now is, will he recover from his latest concussion is he done for good?
11 Montreal's traditional back-to-back matinee Super Bowl weekend games didn’t have a happy ending as the revived Devils thrashed them 4-1.
10 Corey Perry supplies all the goals for the Ducks in a 3-0 win over Colorado.
8 Pekka Rinne continues to be one of the NHL’s best stoppers with a shutout win over Detroit.
16 Rookie Logan Couture’s 23rd goal of the year plays a huge role in helping the Sharks beat the Bruins. San Jose is suddenly starting to look like a team that can do some damage in the playoffs.
12 John Tortorella and star forward Marian Gaborik better work out their issues before the Rangers very good season turns into a disaster.
14 The Blackhawks blew two one-goal leads in their loss to the Canucks, but remain 6-3-1 in their last 10 games
13 Ilya Bryzgalov got back on track with the 20th shutout of his career in his 300th NHL game.
15 The Wild continue to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot in the very tough Western Conference. They’ll have to improve their play at home if they are going to make a run.
20 Justin Williams scores a goal, adds two assists and then scores the shootout winner as the Kings won their second straight game,
21 The happiest player in the NHL, Craig Conroy, retires and joins the Flames management staff. At least his infectious smile will still be in the game.
18 Erik Cole has six points in his last five games, including the game-winner against Atlanta, but the Hurricanes need to pick it up if their going to make it into the playoffs.
17 Peter Forsberg signs with the Avalanche with hopes of reviving his Hall of Fame career.
19 What seemed like a breakout season has suddenly gone downhill and now it looks like Atlanta will be sellers at the NHL’s trade deadline.
23 Kristian Huselius was a healthy scratch (and not too happy about it!) one night, but bounces back with two goals and three points as Columbus beats Edmonton 4-3.
22 Drew Stafford scores his 16th and 17th goals of the year in a big win over Toronto.
25 Goaltender Tomas Vokoun continues to sparkle for the Panthers. The question is, do they keep him or trade him at the deadline in what’s likely to be another year without a playoff appearance?
24 The Blues snap a four-game losing streak with a win over Edmonton, but then succumb to the Lightning in overtime.
29 Jacques Lemaire’s magic behind the bench has the Devils climbing and moving away from a lottery pick in next June’s draft. Is that a good thing?
26 The soap opera continues as slumping forward Phil Kessel and coach Ron Wilson appear to be at odds.
30 Rob Schremp pops a pair as the Islanders win an otherwise meaningless game against the Senators.
27 With the season officially a flop, it will be interesting to see how active GM Bryan Murray at the trade deadline. Despite their lousy record, it seems like there are many players on the Senators that other teams covet.
28 The losses keep piling up for the last place Oilers, but the kids continue to play well.
