Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson skated today for the first time since having surgery in the middle of June to correct a nerve issue in his lower back.
Alfredsson is anticipating skating again on Thursday if he suffers no setbacks. The Sens captain told reporters earlier this month that he anticipates being ready for the start of training camp in September.
The 38-year-old is coming off an injury-filled season, recording 14 goals and 17 assists in 54 games played.
The Senators open their pre-season schedule in Toronto on September 19.
