The New York Islanders have signed Jay Pandolfo to a one-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday.
Pandolfo, who attended Islanders training camp on a tryout basis, recorded one assist with a plus-1 rating in five preseason games.
Last season, Pandolfo signed a professional tryout agreement with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, posting six points (two goals and four assists) in 12 games.
The Burlington, MA, native spent the first 14 years of his professional career with the New Jersey Devils. He has played in 819 career National Hockey League games, totaling 99 goals and 124 assists for 223 points.
Pandolfo has also appeared in 131 career Stanley Cup playoff games, notching 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists). Pandolfo was a member of both the 2000 and 2003 New Jersey Devils Stanley Cup Championship teams.
Prior to joining the professional ranks, Pandolfo spent four years at Boston University, scoring 78 goals and 89 assists in 133 games. In his senior campaign, Pandolfo led the Hockey East conference in goals with 38 and was named to the NCAA All-American Team. He was also named Hockey East Player of the Year.
