The Toronto Maple Leafs have inquired about goalie Marty Turco.
That much we know.
The 36-year-old Turco, who was 11-11-3 with a 3.02 goals-against-average and .897 save percentage last season, remains unsigned.
When contacted by sportsnet.ca Monday he said he had not heard from the Leafs, who have been without their starting goalie James Reimer since he was crashed into by Montreal Canadiens captain Brian Gionta Oct. 22.
Since then Jonas Gustavsson and Ben Scrivens have shared the crease and the team has struggled, especially at home where it has dropped three straight.
When contacted by Sportsnet's Daren Millard, Leafs GM Brian Burke said his team has no interest in Turco. It's hard to imagine him saying anything different with his club playing tonight.
Turco has been working out with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. He is 273-165-26-40 in his NHL career.
Veteran hockey columnist Mike Brophy will cover the Toronto Maple Leafs for sportsnet.ca for the 2011/12 season.
