Flames land Jones from Lightning
THE CANADIAN PRESS
CALGARY -- The Calgary Flames added some depth down the middle by acquiring centre Blair Jones from the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenceman Brendan Mikkelson on Friday.
Jones has appeared in 78 career NHL games, including 22 this season with Tampa Bay. The 25-year-old racked up two goals and two assists this year.
"Blair is a player that both Brent Sutter and I are familiar with," said Flames GM Jay Feaster. "He is a good-sized centreman and someone we feel will fit in well here with our organization."
Mikkelson had spent the entire season with Calgary's American Hockey League Affiliate in Abbotsford. He had three goals and 15 points in 33 games.
The 24-year-old was claimed off waivers by Calgary from Anaheim in October 2010.
