Jonathan Toews isn't expected to take part in this weekend's NHL All-Star festivities in Ottawa.
The Chicago Blackhawks centre will also miss Tuesday's game against the Nashville Predators with a left arm injury that isn't considered to be serious.
Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville confirmed the injury on Monday and said Toews will likely be held out of Saturday's skills competition and Sunday's game.
We'll get a better assessment after [the All-Star break]," Quenneville said. "When you look at the injury, there is no defining blow."
Toews injured his arm when he was slashed by Florida Panthers defenceman Eric Gudbranson last Friday.
Toews is having one of the best statistical seasons of his career as the Canadian centre has 27 goals and 50 points in 49 games
