The Winnipeg Jets have acquired defenceman John Negrin from the Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Akim Aliu.

Negrin has played 26 games with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League this season, earning one assist and 12 penalty minutes. The 22-year-old started the season playing nine games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

The Vancouver native has played three games in the NHL with the Flames. Negrin was originally drafted by Calgary in the third round, 70th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Aliu has four goals and one assist 13 games this season, also with the Abbotsford Heat. Aliu was on loan from Jets.

The native of Okene, Nigeria was selected 56th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
