The Calgary Flames announced Wednesday that they have signed centre Krystofer Kolanos to a two year contract.
The 30-year-old Calgary native has played in 136 NHL games with Phoenix, Edmonton, Minnesota and New York where he tallied 20 goals and 21 assists.
Kolanos earned a spot on the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Heat this season via professional try-out and went on to lead the team in scoring with 18 goals and 22 assists in 34 games.
"Krys has been one of our best players in Abbotsford and has done everything we've asked of him to earn this opportunity," said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster in a press release. "He has worked hard on being a responsible two-way player and we look forward to him contributing to our success at both ends of the ice."
Representing the West in the AHL's All-Star Game this past weekend, Kolanos notched an assist in an 8-7 win over the Eastern Conference squad.
Kolanos' deal is a two year, two-way contract with an annual cap hit of $525,000.
