Sedin out with ankle injury

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin missed practice Wednesday one day after suffering a right ankle injury.

Sedin suffered the injury in a 4-3 win over Nashville after blocking a point shot from defenceman Kevin Klein in the first period.

Sedin left the ice but later returned to the game.

The team said an initial X-ray was inconclusive, and Canucks coach Alain Vigneault confirmed Sedin will be evaluated after a CT scan is done.

"They did an X-ray on Hank and they couldn't tell on the X-ray and he was just obviously in a lot of pain, so we're doing a follow up right now," Vigneault said on the team's website.

Sedin has played in 552 consecutive games, and is seven games back of Calgary's Jay Bouwmeester for the longest active streak in the NHL.

Vigneault said he'll play Sedin on Thursday against Minnesota rather than rest him if he is healthy.

"I'm still hoping that he's alright, but obviously it just shows how effective and durable Hank is on himself and hopefully the streak will continue tomorrow," said Vigneault.
