Leafs’ Phaneuf to have hearing for Miller hit

At the end of Sunday's game against Boston, Leaf captain Dion Phaneuf drove Kevan Miller into the boards on a hit from behind. Miller walked off the ice but supplemental discipline is expected for Phaneuf.

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf will have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL player safety department for his hit on rookie defenceman Kevan Miller during the Leafs’ 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins, Sportsnet’s John Shannon is reporting.

According to Sportnet’s Nick Kypreos, Phaneuf’s hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Taking place with about 2:21 left to go in the third period, Miller was digging for the puck along boards in his own zone when Phaneuf came from behind and crushed his face into the boards.
