While the Oklahoma City Barons leading scorers are now with the Edmonton Oilers, the AHL affiliate might be making up for the lost talent.

The Barons have signed Jonathan Cheechoo to a player tryout in hopes of adding depth, according to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos.

Cheechoo, a former 50-goal scorer with the San Jose Sharks is coming off a 56-point campaign with the Peoria Rivermen.

The Barons lost Jordan Eberle, Justin Schultz and Taylor Hall to the Oilers once the NHL lockout ended. Eberle and Schultz led the AHL in points with 51 and 48 respectively.
